Saints v Tigers snippets

Turning Point
St Kilda led by just four points at three-quarter time but a five-goal-to-one burst to open the final term effectively ended Richmond's chances of claiming just their second win of the season. Goalsneak Stephen Milne started the avalanche directly from the centre bounce with a classic banana goal, before best-on-ground Leigh Montagna snagged one immediately after the restart to put the Saints 16 points up. The Tigers got one back through Nathan Foley, but St Kilda booted the next three - two of which went to Fraser Gehrig - to increase its lead to 28 points.

Star Man
Montagna has worthy claims on this title after gathering 35 disposals, booting one goal and kicking the ball into the forward 50 seven times but veteran Saint Robert Harvey again showed his undoubted ability to influence a contest. The oldest man in the AFL, 35-year-old Harvey just never stops running, picking up nine possessions in the final quarter to set the Saints on their way to victory. Harvey racked up 28 touches and six marks overall in a dominant display in front of 38,689 fans.

What a Goal
Nick Riewoldt's unbelievable soccer goal early in the third quarter must surely rate as one of the top three goals of the season - if not the best. Out of mid-air, the blond-haired Saint co-captain stuck his boot out and somehow managed to snap the ball through the big sticks to give his team the lead and send the St Kilda faithful into raptures.

Unsung Hero
Pocket rocket Nathan Foley is an exciting talent who continues to show massive improvement this season. Originally recruited from the Geelong Falcons, Foley has had an impressive year to date - ranking fifth overall for disposals in the league - and this game was no different. Foley was one of the driving forces for the Tigers all night out of the middle where he gathered 21 possessions. The 21-year-old has pace to burn, kicking two wonderful goals including one eerily reminiscent of a bloke called Chris Judd when he grabbed the ball from the centre, took two bounces, sprinted clear of two opponents and kicked truly from 50m out.
