Livid Judd rues miss

09/05/2010 10:11:18 PM

Inspirational Carlton captain Chris Judd has admitted to being "consumed by disappointment" over the Blues' five-point elimination final loss to Sydney at ANZ Stadium.

Judd turned on a master class with one of the best finals performances by an individual in recent memory.

His game-high 29 disposals included 14 contested possessions, four tackles, 10 clearances and 10 inside-50s.

The high point was his third quarter when he racked up 10 disposals including six clearances to haul the Blues back into the contest after they trailed by 24 points at half-time.

All he could think about afterwards, however, was the shot for goal he missed in the final term, one of several the Blues squandered when the result was in the balance

"It was a goal I should have kicked," he said.

"You've got to take your chances in finals and ... we worked hard enough to get some chances and didn't take them so we're all part of that."

Asked whether the Blues had achieved what they set out to in 2010, Judd said: "We probably just missed."

"As a group we wanted to improve on last year and that really meant wining a final so that's disappointing, that's done now."

"It's a bit early to analyse what it all means, you're just sort of consumed by the disappointment of losing a final."

Judd said his focus would quickly turn to the pre-season and planning for a bigger, better 2011.

"We worked hard but weren't good enough to get it done," he said.

"We'll have some time off and come back hungry next year and we'll really need to start to make some improvements now."

"I think there's plenty of growth left in the group and the summer will be about bringing that growth out."
