Promising young Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer has re-signed with the club until at least the end of 2012.
Kreuzer's prized signature is a welcome piece of good news for the embattled Blues who have made headlines for all the wrong reasons over the off-season.
A number of Carlton players have come under fire for a series of alcohol-related incidents over the summer months, but Kreuzer's commitment will give supporters a reason to smile.
"We are delighted that Matthew has committed to continuing his career with Carlton," said General Manager of Football Operations Steven Icke.
" He is an outstanding young man and has shown in his first two years in the AFL, where he has had an immediate impact at Carlton and in the competition, that he has a sensational career in front of him."
Kreuzer was Carlton's first selection, number one overall, in the 2007 AFL National Draft and won Carlton's best first year player in 2008.
"I have really enjoyed my first two years at Carlton and believe it is a fantastic time to be at the Club," Kreuzer said.
"Obviously the improvement on the field and playing a final last year was great and I look forward to playing more finals and enjoying success with everyone at Carlton. Together with the sensational new facilities at Visy Park certainly makes Carlton a great place to be."
The mobile ruckman has played every game since making his debut in round 3, 2008 for a total of 43 matches, finishing fifth in the John Nicholls Medal (Carlton Best & Fairest Award) last season.
