Chris Judd's surgery on his right shoulder has been successful and the Carlton captain will return to full training in January.
Judd injured his shoulder during pre-season training with the Blues last month and underwent minor surgery on Monday.
Andrew McKay, new football operations manager at the Blues, said Judd's injury was only a minor setback and the 28-year-old would re-start full training in the new year.
"The surgeon said last week he expected this would only be a minor procedure and Chris would be back training in January, so obviously we are pleased that this has been confirmed following the surgery," McKay said in a statement on the club's website.
"Chris will rest up until Christmas and resume training with the rest of his team-mates in the new year in preparation for the 2012 season."
