Carlton captain Chris Judd will see a specialist on Thursday after suffering a shoulder injury in pre-season training.
The dual Brownlow Medalist, who has always played with his shoulders strapped, had precautionary scans on his right shoulder on Wednesday.
"Chris will see his specialist tomorrow for a review to decide what, if any, intervention will be required," a statement on the club's website read.
"The Carlton medical team and Chris decided it was best to take this action now to ensure, no matter what the outcome of the review, that Chris will be available for the 2012 AFL season."
Judd had a long history of shoulder injuries throughout his junior career, but has so far avoided any troubles in his 10 years with West Coast and Carlton.
