Hawks v Power, snippets
TURNING POINT: Hawthorn looked extremely shaky as it trailed by 38 points early in the second quarter. Robert Campbell got things going by clearly winning the ruck battle against Dean Brogan, while tough nuts Brad Sewell and Jordan Lewis started getting their hands to the ball first out of the middle. Three goals to the Hawks to end the second term got them to 17 points at half-time before a further seven goals in the third quarter ended any chance Port Adelaide had of an upset.
STAR MAN: Lewis kick-started the Hawthorn revival through the centre, gathering 36 disposals and taking eight marks as he led his team back from the brink of defeat.
CLASSIC GRAB: Jarryd Roughead put in his nomination for mark of the year with a towering leap over the back of 200cm Port ruckman Brogan in the Hawks' goal square.
WHAT A GOAL!: Daniel Motlop was at it again with another sensational six-pointer, this time gathering the ball near the boundary from a Hawthorn kick-in, selling a dummy to Campbell Brown before running around and slotting it on his right.
ABSOLUTE SHOCKER: It was a case of going from chocolates to boiled lollies for Motlop, who had a brain fade late in the game. With his team down by 11 points, Motlop tried to intercept the umpire's bounce deep in Port's forward line but gave away a free kick.
UNSUNG HERO: Campbell doesn't usually get the plaudits but his performance in setting up Hawthorn's centre domination was vital to the outcome. Campbell only had seven touches of the footy but effected 18 hitouts and laid three tackles to be among his team's best players.
