Hawks v Eagles - snippets
STAR MAN: He doesn't get the accolades of Lance Franklin but Jarryd Roughead is every bit as important to the Hawks' forward line. Roughead won praise from Alastair Clarkson after the game for his prowess both in the air and at ground level. He finished the match with nine marks and six goals and set up several others.
TURNING POINT: Roughead's fifth goal less than a minute into the final quarter sealed West Coast's fate. The margin was out to 34 points and so were the Eagles' hopes of an upset victory.
CLASSIC GRAB: Michael Osborne didn't have much of a run up but still had enough spring in his legs to hitch a ride on Andrew Embley's back in the first quarter to mark spectacularly on the wing in the first term.
ABSOLUTE SHOCKER: Beau Wilkes made two embarrassing blunders in the opening quarter. His first one saw him punch when well positioned to mark deep in defence, resulting in a Hawthorn goal. Later in the term he pinpointed Michael Osborne after marking on the last line, also gifting the Hawks a major.
UNSUNG HERO: Cyril Rioli chased and harassed with intent all night. His run down tackle on Tim Houlihan, which created a turnover, was the pick of the lot.
