The Western Bulldogs have locked away star midfielder Ryan Griffen for a further three years, keeping him out of reach from a potential poach from GWS at the end of the season.
Griffen, who's contract was due to expire at the end of this season, has signed a new deal that will keep the classy onballer to the club until 2015.
The new deal also means that the 25-year-old is off limits to rival clubs when free agency begins at the end of the year.
"I was really thrilled [to extend terms]," Griffen told the Herald Sun.
"I always wanted to stay at the Bulldogs and for them to re-sign me it was fantastic. I love the guys here and the club, so I jumped at the opportunity."
It is welcome news for the Dogs, who have lost Callan Ward and Jarrod Harbrow to GWS and Gold Coast respectively in recent seasons.
Since being taken with pick No.3 in the 2004 draft, Griffen has played 143 games with the Dogs and has developed into one of the most dangerous midfielders in the game.
