Greater Western Sydney coach Kevin Sheedy said it's unlikely he'll draft veteran forward Brendon Fevola to the club, but refused to rule it out completely.
After trade week came to an end on Monday, Sheedy admitted it's doubtful the Giants will take a punt on the former Carlton and Brisbane spearhead, but did say the club may look at getting in more experienced players.
"I doubt it, but you just never say never do you," Sheedy said.
"There might be opportunities there for us, we've got a couple of middle to late picks that are there on the table and really that depends on how Gubby (football operations manager Graeme Allan) and SOS (List manager Steve Silvagni) and the club feel about it,"
"If we get one or two more that's about it for this year."
The Giants have already recruited experienced players Luke Power, Chad Cornes and Dean Brogan and while all three are in their 30s, Sheedy backed them to perform next season.
"If we want to keep our experienced players alive ... When I left Essendon I saw James Hird win a best and fairest in 17 games at 34 years of age, and he wasn't going to play that year," he said.
"If we really handle these players right and get the best out of them in the next year or two if that's how long they're going to play, then we're doing the right thing by the game and those senior players."
The upcoming national draft is set to be dominated by Greater Western Sydney with the club having an unprecedented 11 of the first 14 picks.
Sheedy wouldn't put a timeframe on when he hopes to see the Giants challenging for a premiership but is looking forward to an exciting future.
"I think our recruiting department have been fantastic. I think that puts us in a really good position to have a team that represents the Greater Western Sydney for quite a number of years," he said.
"I wouldn't give a date on a premiership, but we want to be a very, very good side and we want to be a great club, so going about it the right way."
"We get ourselves right in the trenches and do it really well then we'll have a future."
