Eagles v Tigers, snippets
Turning Point:
Matthew Richardson had his best and worst on display. The 32-year-old spearhead had the chance to reduce the margin to single figures twice within the space of a minute in the final term as Richmond made its charge, but on both occasions Richardson sprayed his shot. The Eagles were ruthless in reply, with three unanswered goals sealing the win.
Classic Grab:
Adam Hunter had two contenders for this one. His first came in the third term when he launched himself above Graham Polak and Ashley Hansen to take the ball on his chest, before finishing off with a goal. His second grab came in the final term when he used Adam Pattison as a step-ladder to take the mark deep in attack. Once again he capped off his good work with a goal.
Star Man:
This honour has to be split between Quinten Lynch and Daniel Kerr. While Lynch was unstoppable up forward with seven goals, it was the work ethic of Kerr in the centre square that was simply sublime. Kerr finished the match with 30 possessions while Lynch booted seven goals to sink the Tigers.
What a Goal:
Richardson sealed this one early when he sharked the ball from a boundary throw-in, shook off defender Brett Jones and dribbled through the goal while riding an Adam Hunter bump.
Absolute Shocker:
Nathan Brown had a good night but his shot on goal in the third term was a disaster. After maneuvering opponent Adam Selwood out of the marking contest, Brown played on and appeared set for goal as he ran in unopposed to an open goal. However, his dribble kick from 10m out on a 45 degree angle embarrassingly struck the post.
Unsung Hero:
Ashley Hansen's role as a linkman from defence to attack often goes unnoticed from week-to-week, but his position has proven to be invaluable one to West Coast's set-up. Hansen finished the night with 13 disposals and 11 marks, with his leading up the ground a highlight.
