Eagles v Lions - snippets

TURNING POINT: Nigel Lappin's miss late in the third term proved costly. On the back of Jonathan Brown's dominance and Daniel Bradshaw's three quick goals, Brisbane surged to a four-point lead. Lappin could - and should - have extended it to 10 points when he ran into open space and kicked for home from 25m out on a slight angle. But his miss let the Eagles off the hook, with Dean Cox slotting through a goal and setting Adam Hunter up for another shortly after to help swing the game back in West Coast's favour.

CLASSIC GRAB: Mark Seaby and Ashley Hansen both took spectacular pack grabs but Jonathan Brown's contested mark against Darren Glass is simply too good to ignore. Glass was all over Brown as the ball came in to Brisbane's forward 50, but somehow Brown managed to wrestle his arms free from Glass' iron grip to take the stellar mark.

STAR MAN: Although he was on the losing end, Brown was simply superb. The 26-year-old booted all four of Brisbane's first-half goals and finished the match with six majors, 15 disposals and five marks in a best-on-ground display. His contested marking opposed to Glass was simply a privilege to watch.

ABSOLUTE SHOCKER: West Coast's fadeout after its blistering start was atrocious. At 38-1 up, the Eagles were cruising, but five of the next six goals to Brisbane (including four to Brown) brought the Eagles crashing back down to Earth.

WHAT A GOAL! Once again Brown takes the cake, with his tumbling snap from the boundary line in the final quarter stunning the 39,591 crowd. Brown gathered the loose ball, turned Glass inside out before snapping a hopeful kick off his left boot. Brent Staker ran towards the goal-line and looked to have the situation covered, only for the ball to bounce over his head and through for a goal.

UNSUNG HERO: Dean Cox was a shining light for West Coast in the ruck but his understudy Mark Seaby continues to develop in leaps and bounds. The 23-year-old finished with 13 hit-outs, 13 possessions and two goals, one of which came after taking a spectacular pack mark over two opponents and a teammate.
