West Coast have promoted from within, appointing Justin Longmuir as their forwards coach to replace the departed Peter Sumich.
Although several reports suggested former Fremantle coach Mark Harvey may cross to West Coast to take over from Sumich, who has conversely moved to the Dockers, those stories came to nought as the Eagles announced Longmuir's appointment on Tuesday afternoon.
Former Fremantle ruckman Longmuir, West Coast's development coach over the last 12 months, was delighted to take the position.
"I'm just really excited and grateful to the club for the opportunity," Longmuir told the Eagles' website.
"I am really looking forward to working even more closely with John Worsfold and the other coaching staff as we strive to improve on last season."
"It's a terrific opportunity and I look forward to sinking my teeth into the role when pre-season training gets under way next month."
Longmuir played 139 games for the Dockers in nine seasons before his career was cut short by injury.
