Cats v Tigers, snippets

TURNING POINT: It was early on in the first term and the Tigers held a two-goal lead when Joel Bowden missed a simple chance to increase the lead. Bowden – the hero last week against Brisbane – missed a set shot from approximately 40 metres out from goal with little angle to speak of, which ironically was from nearly the exact same position he kicked truly from to win the Tigers the game against the Lions last week.

CLASSIC GRAB:.Matthew Richardson might not have had the best of nights, but he did manage to take an excellent grab during the third term. Richo was outnumbered three to one and jumped high on Darren Milburn's back to take a speccy.

STAR MAN: Joel Selwood. The reigning NAB rising star award winner oozes class. He ran hard all night and ended the game with a joint game-high 32 disposals.

ABSOLUTE SHOCKER: Richard Tambling may be improving, but the 22-year-old was poor against the Cats on Saturday night. Yes, Tambling did collect 24 possessions, but he turned the ball over continually and failed to flatter.

UNSUNG HERO: Mark Blake. The Cats second string ruckman may be maligned by opposition supporters, but he had a pearler of a game against the Tigers on Saturday night. Blake, along with fellow tall Brad Ottens, destroyed Richmond in the ruck and helped the Cats dominate the clearances. Blake ended the game with 26 hitouts and almost managed a goal from 50m out late in the match.
