Cats v Kangaroos snippets

STAR MAN: David Hale played what coach Dean Laidley described as the best game by a Kangaroo for quite some time. He kicked eight of his team's 13 goals, took eight marks - four of which were contested - and outplayed two opponents in Harry Taylor and Matthew Scarlett.

TURNING POINT: The Cats blew the game open in the second quarter when they kicked seven goals to three. Take out that quarter and only one point separated the two teams.

CLASSIC GRAB: Hale's effort to out-mark Scarlett, Tom Harley and Harry Taylor was one of many highlights of his day. With punching the arms outlawed, the 201cm Hale is a very hard man to spoil when his arms are fully extended in a marking contest.

ABSOLUTE SHOCKER: Shannon Grant's 299th game was not a memorable one. He had just 10 touches after being almost unsighted in the first half.

UNSUNG HERO: Brent Harvey has been in outstanding form recently but could not shake off the close attention of Cameron Ling. Ling clearly won the duel, finishing with 29 touches and two goals to Harvey's 22 largely meaningless disposals.
