Baker out, Byrnes in

Friday night's second qualifying final between Geelong and St Kilda has taken on a new complexion with late changes for both sides.

Hard man Steven Baker, who was set to resume hostilities with Cats forward Steve Johnson, has pulled out of the Saints line-up along with Jarryn Geary.

Coming into the 22 are Sean Dempster and Robert Eddy.

The Cats have made one change with dual premiership forward Shannon Byrnes replacing Tom Lonergan.

Baker hasn't played since copping a nine-match suspension for his running battles with Johnson the last time these teams met in Round 13.

St Kilda coach Ross Lyon had flagged several weeks ago that Baker would return to the side for the finals despite a lack of match practice.

The 30-year-old's preparation was hampered by a broken toe sustained a month ago when he dropped a bowling ball on his foot while out relaxing with friends.

Eddy returns to the Saints line-up after missing the past fortnight with a hand injury.

The Cats may have had the weather forecast in mind with the inclusion of the pacy Byrnes.

Heavy rain is forecast to hit later in the evening.
